Editorially, our heartfelt appreciation as a guiding light goes to Todd Herreman, who served between 2017-2024 at Syracuse University’s Setnor School of Music in the College of Visual and Performing Arts, where he served as Associate Professor of Teaching (now Professor Emeritus), Music Industry and Technologies. Mr. Herreman previously taught audio engineering, producing, MIDI and music business for 13 years at Southern Illinois University, where he earned a Master’s in Legal Studies from SIU’s School of Law, with a concentration in intellectual property.
Prior to academics, Mr. Herreman was a 18-year Los Angeles-based music industry veteran as producer, songwriter, composer, engineer and session musician, garnering multiple gold and platinum records. He recorded and toured for a year with Prince. His credit and client list also includes Michael Jackson, Brian Wilson, Jeff Beck, Jody Watley and Adam Ant. Mr. Herreman has scored music for feature films, television and commercials.
A writer and researcher, he also holds a degree in Music and Philosophy from Indiana University and is an alumnus of the Leadership Music executive development program in Nashville. Mr. Herreman, who is called upon as a speaker on topics such as Fair Use, implications of AI and music, and sampling, is affiliated with ASCAP (writer/publisher), the Audio Engineering Society, NARAS and Pi Kappa Lambda.
